Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long is a typical grooming session?
A: We usually ask for 2–4 hours per dog depending on breed and style chosen and 1–2 hours per cat. This allows us time to safely and thoroughly complete the grooming process without rushing. Grooming time can vary depending on factors like your pet’s coat condition, temperament, and the services you’ve requested. Walk-ins, phone calls, and other pets in the salon may also affect timing, but we will always keep you updated if your pet needs a little extra time.
Q: What happens if my pet has fleas?
A: If a pet comes in with fleas, we immediately give them an all-natural flea bath that kills the fleas on contact. This is to protect both your pet and the other pets in our care, as well as prevent an infestation in the salon. While we are happy to help, please note that there is an additional fee for flea baths, and we recommend following up with your veterinarian for a long-term prevention plan.
Q: When can I get my pet in for a nail trim?
A: Nail trims are available as walk-in services 7 days a week, so you can stop by at your convenience without an appointment. We also host a special “Nail Night” every Tuesday from 5–7 pm, where we offer discounted pricing to make regular nail care easier and more affordable.
Q: How often should my pet be groomed?
A: The frequency depends on your pet’s coat type and the haircut length you prefer. On average, most pets should be groomed every 4, 6, or 8 weeks to keep their coat healthy and mat-free. Regular grooming also keeps skin clean and reduces shedding. Nail trims should be done about once a month, although some pets with fast-growing nails may need them more often. Our groomers are always happy to recommend a schedule tailored to your pet’s needs.

Q: Do you groom cats as well as dogs?
A: Yes, we do! Cats require gentle handling, and our groomers are trained to work with feline clients. Whether your cat needs a bath, a brush-out, or a trim, we make the experience as calm and stress-free as possible. We can also help with de-shedding treatments, nail trims, and sanitary trims for cats.

Q: My pet doesn’t do well with nail trims. Can you handle that?
A: Absolutely. Many pets are nervous about having their nails done, and we understand how stressful it can be. Our groomers have years of experience working with pets of all temperaments, including those who are anxious, feisty, or just plain stubborn. We use patience, gentle handling, and positive techniques to help your pet through the process. While not every pet can tolerate nail trims without difficulty, we are always willing to give it a try and will do our best to keep your pet comfortable and safe.

Q: Can I stay and watch while my pet is groomed?
A: Unfortunately, no. While it may seem comforting for your pet to see you nearby, it usually has the opposite effect. Pets often become more anxious, protective, or distracted when their owner is present, which makes grooming less safe for both the pet and the groomer. For this reason, we ask owners to drop off and return for pick-up while trusting us to care for their pets as if they were our own.

Q: Do you work with rescue pets or pets that have never been groomed before?
A: Yes, we do. Rescue pets or pets new to grooming often need extra patience and time to adjust to the process. Our team takes a gentle approach, moving at your pet’s pace and introducing them slowly to each part of the groom. Building trust is important, and we’ll do everything we can to ensure your pet feels safe and cared for during their visit.

Q: Do you accommodate pets with allergies or sensitive skin?
A: Absolutely. We know that some pets have special needs when it comes to shampoos and skin care. We keep a variety of hypoallergenic and gentle shampoo options on hand, and we can also use a medicated or veterinarian-prescribed shampoo that you provide. Our goal is to make grooming safe and comfortable for every pet, including those with allergies or sensitivities.

Q: Can my pet be groomed if they are in heat?
A: Yes, we can groom pets who are in heat. We simply ask that you bring a fresh, clean diaper for your pet to wear after the appointment. This helps keep both your pet and the grooming environment sanitary and comfortable.

Q: I don’t want my dog shaved down like the last groomer did!
A: We completely understand this concern. The good news is that shaving is not always necessary. When you bring your pet in, we’ll carefully evaluate their coat condition and discuss your preferences with you. Sometimes, if a coat is severely matted, a reset shave is the healthiest option to give your pet a fresh start. From there, we’ll create a maintenance plan together that includes regular brushing and scheduled grooms to help your dog keep a beautiful, longer coat without future shave-downs.

Q: When should my puppy have their first groom, and what does it include?
A: We recommend scheduling your puppy’s first groom at least 72 hours after their third round of puppy shots. This “puppy’s first groom” special is designed as a gentle introduction, not a full haircut, so your puppy can get used to the new sights, sounds, and sensations without being overwhelmed.

Q: Do I need an appointment?
A: It depends on the service. Walk-ins are welcome for smaller services like nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression. However, full baths and grooming services do require an appointment. Booking ahead helps us dedicate the right amount of time to your pet’s groom and ensures we can give them the attention they deserve.

Q: Do you have appointments available today?
A: It’s always worth giving us a call! While we usually book out in advance, we sometimes have same-day openings due to cancellations or lighter schedules. If there’s a spot available, we’ll do our best to get your pet in.
